Lauren & Jack were meant to get married at Baxter Barn on May 28th but with lockdown 5.0 in Melbourne announced for midnight on May 27th, something had to change.
My thoughts were pessimistic because I was just expecting an email to say they were postponing. Imagine my surprise when my phone rang at 11.05am on the 27th to say that they were bringing their wedding forward a day to beat the cut off!
My heart skipped a beat! There were so many moving parts not just for them but for all of their vendors. Everything needed to be moved around and so with an hour up my sleeve to get sorted, off I went.
First was to get my kids organised. They were at school and had to be picked up at 3.30pm. I hadn’t even had a shower yet or organised any clothes. I hadn’t eaten or even charged my batteries to shoot for a whole wedding day.
Once all that was taken care of, I packed the car and headed to where Jack was getting ready. I arrived at 12.15pm. Just over an hour after my phone rang!
The whole schedule had to be looked at and I convinced them to do a first look and get their photos done instead of starting their ceremony in the dark and having no daylight for any portraits afterwards. I’m sure you can feel the panic in these words, let alone how it all felt on the day.
With lots of deep breaths, we made it happen and not a single vendor was missing. We’re talking cake, flowers, hair and make up, Baxter Barn and their amazing staff and we even had a visit from the Herald Sun to document a unique wedding put on 24 hours ahead of schedule. It was truly an experience that I’ll probably/hopefully never have again.

Oh and one last tidbit… In all the chaos of getting ready, I forgot to pack the batteries for my flash. Luckily for me, I prepare well and had two back up LED lights in my car and was able to shoot the entire wedding without a flash. That’s a first for me!
