Vaccination Status - a low risk approach

The question of vaccination status

UPDATE: On January 13th, I got boosted!

Nat Sproal is a highly regarded Wedding Celebrant who has been a shining light for our industry throughout the Pandemic. Every post from Nat has been full of helpful info on where things are at with the virus as well as our industry. Nat had a career in nursing and still has many friends on the front line. I'm very grateful for the knowledge and real-world view that she has shared.

Nat has impeccable writing skills and was very generous with sharing her post below about vaccination status. I wholeheartedly agree with her every word so I thought I'd create this page for my own couples.

Hello!

I’ve had some enquiries from couples regarding my vaccination status and I apologise for not posting this earlier- I have been double vaxxed since August.

Seeing we’re here, I also need to reciprocate with the vaccination status question.

I ask because I am committed to mitigating the risk of contracting Covid and having to pull out of multiple weddings at immense cost and inconvenience.

Strong evidence supports unvaccinated people carrying a much higher risk of acquiring and transmitting Covid-19.

To achieve the 150 indoors/ 500 outdoor guest limit as of November 5th- the legal requirement, as part of a government mandate is that all people onsite for your wedding are double vaccinated (this includes guests, the couple and venue staff and vendors). A single unvaccinated person on site sees the cap drop steeply to 10.

The only exception to this is those holding legitimate medical exemptions which will be required to be produced before the event. These will be recorded as part of the QR check in.

For couples this will also extend to meetings leading up to your wedding.

I’ve just been off work for the most part of 18 months and I have weddings scheduled for couples who will finally get their day after postponing several times.

I will be doing everything I can to keep my risk low- so I am at those weddings and not forced to pull out because I’m isolating. I’ll be avoiding shopping centres, using my sanitizer religiously and continuing to wear a mask around crowds.

I don’t want to let anyone down. I don’t want to get this close to getting back to doing what I love to be sidelined. I want to go over the finish line with you.

I’m always about to chat about this and answer any questions or concerns you have.

Get in touch anytime,
