I tried something different on Saturday. I used an app on my phone called 8mm and captured little snippets from their day as I took photos. Put it all together and made a little film out of it. Just something informal and a bit of fun.
I'm in the middle of researching Super Eight filmmaking as an add on to my wedding photography so I thought it might be best to try it out without any cost to see if you all liked it. Venturing into Super 8 gear and processing can get expensive so dipping a toe in the water is the best approach for me.
It was great fun to produce, especially because it's so free flowing. There's no need to nail every shot because the idea is keep it real and authentic and give it the effect of an old school home movie style of film.
How I do it while I'm shooting is to make sure I'm getting what I need with the big cameras before grabbing my phone to capture small things throughout the day. I then do a quick edit with a song and that's it.
